Inspirational Poem Balance
The inspirational poem Balance" came about as a result of a trip to Houston Texas to a wedding which involved a very close family friend.
On the way home from the wedding, I was a smoker at the time, and realized I was out of cigarettes, my wife, her son, and his wife were with me, it was getting late, about 1230AM We were in an area which was not an especially good place to be at that time of night. I stopped at a quick stop convenience store, much to the disapproval of my family, got out and was going to go inside when I noticed the entire building was encircled with steel bars. Even the door was closed, and locked behind bars. I couldn't help but think how this world was becoming. Here I was in one of the greatest cities in America, simply wanting to purchase an item, and here I was barred out of the very store from which I wanted to do business. What was happening to us ?Was it so dangerous for the owners that it was necessary to enclose themselves and their wares inside a barred prison and bullet proof glass, passing the money and goods through a small slot? I though about the consequences of the situation all the way home. Needless to say I was quite upset about what was taking place. When I arose the next morning the words for the poem came automatically, and I composed this poem. I felt it was important to share my thoughts on what is truly taking place every day, and the importance of keeping our own inner world in order.

Enter Page Title Here Balance BalanceHow do we keep our balance in this world of crime and evil? How do we feel secure when all around us is primeval? When we awaken in the morning see the sunshine oh so bright The first news that greets us is of the frightful night. The horror stories in the news, the killings on TV The wars we always hear about, from across the shining seas. The gang wars on our city streets, the drugs within our schools The abuse of our young children, there are no golden rules. The warlords with their power, the politicians with their snare Keep the world in constant terror, preaching nothing but despair. The media with its jaundiced views, large companies with their power Newscasters with their sage advice, tune in at every hour. Oh yes, balance is the world we sought, not envy hate and greed, A world of kindness, love and hope, lets plant a brand new seed, Let’s plant a seed in all mankind, and handle it with care Seeking gladness love and hope, and how to live and share.
