The story of God's Rose
New Page 2
This poem. "God's Rose", came about as the result of my wife’s generosity. My
wife is a florist and was the manager of a floral shop.
The shop owner ordered far too many flowers for Valentines Day, and as a result
they were left with many which they did not sell.
My wife went to the owner and asked permission to make up bud vases and to give
them to the elderly at the local nursing homes. I accompanied her as she
delivered each gift. It was an incredible experience; those people were some of
the most grateful people I have ever had the opportunity to meet. As we visited
and gave each person a bud vase we noticed that many of them had not received
any flowers of any kind, and this was Valentines Day.
There were lots of tears, lots of hugs, and tons of smiles. It was an experience
I will never forget. My wife had touched their hearts with her thoughtfulness
and love. As I thought about the kindness which my wife had shown, and the
amount of work to put all of those bud vases together the idea of a poem came to
me.
The
Poem
Take time to smell the roses as you
pass along the way With their fragrance and their beauty they add joy to
every day. Just as Jesus in his glory and our father in Heaven
above Sends us shower after shower of their goodness and their
love.
But we as creatures of this earth
with human minds and thoughts Pass by this rose not seeing it nor giving it a
thought. What joy this day could bring to us if we would only see How our
heavenly father gave this rose to you and me.
He gave it as a sign of life to
beautify our day To keep us ever mindful as we walk along life's way. That
even we with all our power, our knowledge and our gifts Can ne'r produce with
mind or thought a flower such as this.
